Ustadha Sumaiya Qazi
Sumaiya Qazi graduated from Zaytuna College with a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Law and Theology and a minor in Arabic. Having grown up in Syria, she received a traditional education in the Islamic sciences, including Qur’an, tajwīd, fiqh, and theology, and engaged directly with classical Arabic texts under the mentorship of various Syrian scholars. She is fluent in Arabic and authored her senior thesis in Arabic on the Metaphysics of Death. Sumaiya also contributed to the Qur’anic Linguistics series for non-native speakers of Arabic by editing several chapters and was granted ijāzah by the author to teach the Arabic texts.
After graduating, Sumaiya served as an Arabic Teaching Assistant at Zaytuna College for both beginner and advanced courses. Driven by her passion for Islamic education, she has taught at several institutions, including Deen Sprout Academy, Maryam Masjid, and Sachse Masjid. She is also the founder of the Tarbiya Afterschool Program, an initiative dedicated to teaching core Islamic sciences and nurturing spiritual and moral development in children.
