Seminar Description
Abu Bakr (RA) narrates: I heard the Prophet (Peace be upon him) say:
“You should become either (1) an ‘alim, or (2) a seeker of knowledge of the deen, or (3) an attentive listener to the knowledge of the deen, or (4) a lover of knowledge of deen and ‘ulama. Do not be of the fifth kind, otherwise you will be ruined. The fifth kind is that you bear malice towards knowledge of deen and those who possess it.” (Tabrani, Bazzar, Majma-uzaw’ad)
In this seminar, students will have a unique and rare opportunity to learn directly from Sh Samer al-Nass, a senior scholar of Damascus specializing in the Quranic sciences, fiqh, hadith, seerah, and other disciplines. Sh. Samer will narrate hadiths from the text al-Adab al-Mufrad from beginning to end over two days connecting listeners directly to the Prophet salalLahu’alaihi wa sallam through an unbroken chain of transmitters from Sh. Samer to Imam al-Bukhari. After the text, students will receive an ijaza signed by Sh. Samer. Depending on how many sessions the student attended, there will be options indicating students heard all of the text, most of the text, or some. Students will become part of a chain of transmission directly to the Prophet salallahu’alaihi wa sallam.
Each session, Sh. Samer will read hadiths followed by questions and answers in English. The priority will be to complete the text. Students can follow along in Arabic or by reading the parallel translation projected on-screen.
