Shumsur Rahman

As-Salamu-Alaikum. I have been living in Plano community for approximately 17 years with my wife Sajeda, daughters Umaymah, Aishah and son Umar. Looking after my family is my first priority. Beyond that, I do spend some time in community services daily.

To me, it is Imam’s responsibility to use his knowledge and experience to lead the community with religious affairs. At the same time, IACC is an organization that runs an operation which is not much different from what we are tasked to do as an employee at work. Just like any corporate office, IACC has a budget to go by, a group of employees to maintain, local law and order to follow and above all, obligated to provide an excellent customer service to the people who visits the Masjid. I believe the primary responsibility of a member of Shura is to effectively and efficiently carry on the above-mentioned activities. I believe, from my experience at work and from my involvement in community services, given the opportunity, I will in-Sha-Allah be able to fulfill these responsibilities.

It is irrelevant whether I get elected or not. What is important is that, each and every one of us, whether we are a member of Shura or a general member of the community, we will use lessons learned from our past mistakes as well as successes and we will have a vision to move forward together in-Sha-Allah. May Allah help us.
