Osama Qazi

Assaslamualykum Dear Respected Community Members,

All praise belongs to Allah (SWT) and no one else. My name is Osama Qazi and I was raised up in the Suburbs of Chicago since I was 2 years old and 3 years ago I moved to Plano with my wife and 2 sons aged 7 and 4. I have been involved in 5 Masajid’s in my life including IACC. Alhamdulillah Allah (SWT) has blessed me to experience all sizes of Masajid’s.

At IACC, since 2020, I have been blessed to be the Vice Principal of our Sunday school. With over 90 Volunteer teachers and over 460 Students, I am well aware of how difficult it is run a volunteer organization. By the Grace of Allah (SWT), IACC Sunday school was functional during the pandemic and we were only down for 2 weeks to switch over to Virtual. Allah (SWT) has blessed this community with so many dedicated volunteers Alhamdulillah.

What do you think are the two most important issues facing this community and how do you propose to address with them?

Being one of the leaders of the biggest department of IACC, I see many issues. The biggest issue I see is that the funds of IACC are not being used wisely. If I am elected, I will speak up and make sure we use the funds wisely insha Allah.

Secondly, the way our volunteers are treated is nothing less than shameful. Our young volunteers have literally gone home in tears. As a young professional, I will be speaking as a voice of the youth. Many youth refuse to volunteer with IACC just because they are not treated well. Insha Allah I will stand with them and support them as I know how they feel. I will make sure people respect others by make noise when needed.

What do you consider are your strengths that can help you get elected?

My experience with Sunday school and other Masjid’s are a big strength for me. Alhamdulillah I am able to work and communicate with others who are more senior or junior than me.

How do you propose to help the IACC community?

Here are some ideas that I have. I would like to create an environment to allow the community to feel a sense of belonging. I would also like to empower the youth to have more leadership positions in the departments of the masjid. Also I would like to make IACC less dependent on donations.
